Let's build housing autonomy together

There is a question that lives in the heart of every parent of a child with disabilities, a deep anguish that accompanies their days:“What will happen when we are gone?“

PizzAut, with the same passion with which it opened two restaurants completely run by autistic children and brought the pizzas of inclusion with the PizzAutobus, has decided to face this fear and turn it into a project of hope and concreteness: the Gyms of Housing Autonomy.

In Cassina de’Pecchi, just 300 meters from the restaurant, PizzAut has identified a courtyard and plans to acquire six apartments. Through collaboration with Orlandi Architecture Studio, a renovation project is being developed to create self-contained housing units with common spaces, a small hamlet designed to foster growth and independence.

In Monza, too, the goal is to replicate this model of inclusion and autonomy, and a search for suitable apartments is underway.

Learning to Live, One Day at a Time

This project goes beyond just finding housing; it aims to create a concrete future for young people.

These spaces are designed as true “life gyms,” where children can acquire fundamental skills. Here they learn gestures that seem commonplace to us but represent great achievements for them: sleeping peacefully without their parents, making their beds, cooking a meal and keeping the kitchen clean.

The intent is not limited to practical skills. It is also about learning how to live together and build social relationships in shared spaces, managing the home in collaboration with other autistic youth.

This path strengthens their self-esteem, proving to themselves, before others, that they are capable and autonomous adults.
